I used to most recommend chatgpt plus, but the other day chatgpt banned my codex. Logging into codex again requires SMS two-factor authentication. Since it was a number from a code-receiving platform, openai does not support self-service phone number rebinding, so the main account is basically dead. I switched to try out supergrok. The composer model it provides feels quite good to me — it has the intuitive, fast-response style of Anthropic models. Its logic might be slightly worse than GPT5, but better than domestic models. I have two go subscriptions, both used up, and based on the $120 API spend, I concluded that among domestic models I only got used to deepseek; the others I just couldn’t get into. Everyone should just pick the model they work well with. Supergrok’s trial is only 3 days and gives $150 in credits. The subscription includes $150 in API credits per month, and it feels fairly long-lasting. I only used composer, and didn’t get to try the image and video models. Supergrok’s web answer style is fairly fast, with acceptable accuracy; I haven’t had time to dig in yet. It can talk about some grown-up-only topics. It used to even directly generate that kind of stuff, but now it’s restricted — guys must keep their pants on. There’s a dedicated section on reddit. Musk is the most China-friendly one, and grok can be subscribed directly with a mainland international card. You can try it directly on the official site, and a discount pops up when you cancel. Grok API supports both responses and message APIs, and can be reverse-proxied into claudecode and codex. It also natively supports online search, and so far I haven’t found any incompatible scenarios.
