It might be a bit late to say I’m abandoning Cursor now, but I’ve been gradually reducing my usage over the past six months because my coding habits have changed, and Cursor’s strengths are no longer the reason I chose it… Cursor’s feature that has remained in the top position until now is its unique completion model, which supports cross-line and cross-file completion in all directions, with no competitors in terms of response speed or acceptance rate. However, I no longer use completion to write code, and instead purchase various coding packages and use agents extensively for coding. Cursor’s agents are still powerful, but they haven’t pulled away significantly from claudecode/codex, while Anthropic and OpenAI’s official coding packages are much more cost-effective than Cursor’s. Cursor cannot compete with model vendors in terms of model cost-effectiveness, so it must push its own composer model to have a seat at the table.
